CHAMP Sports Spring Season Canceled

Updated on May 8, 2020

We pray that this update finds you and your family doing well and staying safe during these challenging times. Over the past several weeks, we have been in prayer that God would provide clear direction for CHAMP Sports Outreach’s spring season. After reviewing recommendations from state authorities, including Governor Cooper’s phased approach to reopening the state, we have decided to cancel the remainder of the spring season. This includes practices and games for youth soccer, flag football, t-ball, and coach pitch baseball as well as adult basketball and volleyball.

We delayed this decision in hopes that we would be able to salvage some portion of the spring season, and we know this is not the outcome everyone was hoping for. But we believe it is in the best interest of our community and in accordance with a cautious and deliberate approach to reopening the state. We know that God is sovereign and that He will continue to guide us through these challenging times.

With the spring season being canceled, we will be issuing account credits to everyone for the upcoming fall CHAMP Sports Outreach season, which we anticipate will proceed on a normal schedule. Your account credit will appear in your CHAMP Sports Outreach account and will automatically be applied to your next CHAMP registration (Fall 2020, Winter 2020/2021, or Spring 2021).

For those currently registered for adult basketball and adult volleyball, we are planning to run both of these programs this fall.

If you have any questions please contact Peter Farynyk or Kelly Lamb at

We are thankful for your continued understanding and support during this unique time. We miss you all and look forward to our fall season.

In Christ,

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
